Stephen Chahn Lee
I used to be a federal prosecutor and served as senior counsel to the healthcare fraud unit in the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, I won convictions in 18 trials, including multiple healthcare fraud trials (including one that was featured on CNBC’s American Greed), two trials involving the Anti-Kickback Statute, and a drug case that went to the U.S. Supreme Court. I also worked with Medicare’s Center for Program Integrity on reforms to address systemic fraud, waste and abuse and led a Special Open Door forum on home health fraud in 2017. I incorporated data analysis into many of my cases and am the author of “How to Build A Smoking Gun,” an article about using data and documents more effectively.
I am now in private practice in Chicago, representing corporations and individuals, including a seven-week healthcare fraud trial in early 2020 that resulted in the acquittal and dismissal of multiple charges, including all charges against three out of the four defendants.
